Daybook and diary, 1832-1833, 1844-1845.

Daybook of farm produce transactions in Nyack, N.Y. (Aug. 29, 1832-Nov. 4, 1833) and a diary kept when he owned a lumberyard in New York City (Aug. 26, 1844-Jan. 18, 1845). Daybook records sales or purchases--it is unclear which--of eggs, fowl, meat, hides, shad, fruit, butter, game, and other produce, usually in quantity. In his diary, he notes his daily activities, travels around the city collecting debts and attending to business and personal matters, and the customers at the lumberyard. Lengthier entries were kept on two trips to Staten Island and New Jersey with Garret Green who wished to purchase a small farm; entries include descriptions of farms inspected and objections to their purchase.
